Like A Sparrow
Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose is a vision - a beautiful, waif-like street mime or silent film star, all expressive eyes, lips and fluttering hands, like a little, but strong, bird as Edith Piaf. Best Actress is putting it mildly. Abandoned as a young child, raised in a bordello and from there following her father in the rootless life of a circus performer - she shows the will to live and thrive like a little bird singing.
Wild About Prince Harry
I don't know about you, but this quote from Prince Harry about his deployment to Afghanistan just impressed the hell out of me:
"It's bizarre. I'm out here now, haven't really had a shower for four days, haven't washed my clothes for a week, and everything seems completely normal. It's nice just to be here with all the guys and just mucking in as one of the lads."
I've really been impressed by this "inner gallantry" (for lack of a better word) that I've been noticing just radiating from within about certain people lately, such as Barack Obama, Daniel Day-Lewis and his beautiful tribute to Heath Ledger at the SAG Awards, and now Prince Harry, proud to serve with his fellow lads, regardless of social standing.
Bravo Prince Harry. The British people are lucky to have you. :)
